Some of my favorite verses in the Bible are located in Psalm 23.

PSALM 23

1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2   He makes me lie down in green pastures,

  he leads me beside still waters,

3  he restores my soul.

 He guides me in paths of righteousness

    for his name’s sake.

4Even though I walk

    through the valley of the shadow of death,

 I will fear no evil,

    for you are with me;

 your rod and your staff,

    they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me

    in the presence of my enemies.

 You anoint my head with oil;

    my cup overflows.

6Surely goodness and love will follow me

    all the days of my life,

 and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

 (NIV)

It was David who wrote Psalm 23.  David was a shepherd in his early years.  He composed the said Psalm out of his experience—how the LORD provided, cared and led him in his life.

What we’ve just read is just a glimpse of who the LORD is—in the life of David—and what He can do.  Countless stories had been written in the bible about the LORD and His works. Like David, I also was utterly amazed!

As for me, whatever happens, in good times and in unfavorable circumstances, the LORD will remain my Shepherd-King.

I look forward to dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.
